Diabetic Nephropathy, as we know, is a secondary kidney disorder which is
caused by long time diabetes. The typical symptom of diabetes is high blood
sugar or blood glucose. If it lasts long, the density of blood will lead to
blocking in micro-blood circulation firstly. And sclerosis takes place. With
time passing by, further damage appears such as kidney disease. As for the
treatment of diabetic nephropathy, we should both treat diabetes and diabetic
nephropathy.
Firstly, we focus on the treatment of diabetes. To treat some disease,
figuring the pathological mechanism is important. About 50% to 70% of patients
with type 1 diabetes are connected with immune disease. In normal condition, our
body can recognize and utilize insulin. Insulin has function of using blood
sugar; however, when our immune system goes wrong, our body will be failed in
recognizing and utilizing insulin. When insulin secreted by pancreas islet can
not display their sugar-lowering function, blood sugar accumulates in our body
and finally, leading to the increase of blood sugar level. Therefore, on the
basis of above theory, to relieve or control this condition, we need to regulate
immune system, which will enable our body to recognize and use insulin.
Stem cells can be used to treat diabetes. Firstly, stem cells have a strong
ability of generating and differentiating, which means that it can generate into
a large amount of pancreatic B cell and solve the problem that the patients’
body is short of islet cells. Secondly, the islet cells generated by stem cells
can adjust the blood sugar. Thirdly, stem cell transplant can prevent the
complication of Diabetes, and treat Diabetes fundamentally.
In addition, stem cell can also be used to treat kidney disorder which is
caused by diabetes. Usually, before it is applied in clinic, Chinese Medicine is
used to create a favorable environment by dilating blood vessels,
anti-inflammation, anti-coagulation and degradation of the immune complex.
