Illness Associated with FSGS among Children

FSGS is short for focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, which is a common primary renal glomerular disease. It is a type of nephrotic syndrome either in adults or in children. The characteristic of histopathology is renal segmental scar, with or without adhesion in renal glomerular capillaries. Focal means that there are less than 50% of renal glomeruli which are influenced. Segmental means that there are partial leaflets are influenced. Glomerulosclerosis means that the whole renal glomeruli show hyaline change or scar. So from the above, we can get a conclusion that there are still healthy renal glomeruli in this stage. On the other hand, if we do not take effective measures, the condition will also deteriorate and illness associated with FSGS will take place. Next, we will mainly introduce illness associated with FSGS among children, which is a concern of parents.
Firstly, infection, lost protein, malnutrition, and disorder of immune function, which is connected with the application of glucocorticoid. Infection is the common complication or infection of FSGS. Due to the complication of glucocorticoid, the clinical manifestation of infection is not obvious. Although there are kinds of alternative antibiotics, if the treatment is not fundamental, infection will still be the main reason why FSGS recurs.
Secondly, thrombosis and embolism are also illness associated with FSGS in children. The concentration of blood leads to the viscosity of blood, thus causing thromnosis and embolism. In addition, because protein is lost and increased protein produced in liver, the organic blood coagulation, anticoagulation system are out of order. In this case, thrombosis and embolism takes place easily.
Thirdly, acute renal failure is another illness associated with FSGS in children. The insufficiency of blood content leads to the decline of renal blood flow, which leads to the prerenal azotemia. This leads to edema, which causes the rapid decrease of renal glomerular filtration, thus causing acute renal failure.
Fourthly, long time lost of protein and disorder of fat metabolism will lead to malnutrition, slow growth of children, and so on.
Considering this, FSGS patients should take effective therapeutic measures to prevent the above illness which is associated with FSGS in children. In FSGS stage, patients should apply the stem cell transplant as well as Chinese Medicine, for there have been necrotic intrinsic cells in the kidney.
